Hojo Tokimune (1251-1284)
8th Regent of the Kamakura Shogunate (1268-1284)

- In 1268, after Mongol's demanded Japan's submission, Nichiren Daishonin wrote
Tokimune a letter saying that the government should refrain from supporting heretical
sects of Buddhsim and instead take faith in Daishonin's true Buddhism, but Hojo
Tokimune did not heed the Daishonin's words.
- Never fully agreeing with the severe presecution of Nichiren Daishonin,  in 1274
revoked the edit which banished Nichiren Daishonin to Sado Island in 1271.
