REPLY TO LADY MYOHO-AMA
Gosho Zenshu, p. 1404
I Nichiren, have been studying Buddhism since childhood and have prayed to understand the impermanence of human life. Life is as fleeting as the exhaled breath which does not wait for the inhaled breath, and is not even comparable to the abidingness of dew before the wind. There is no fixed or lasting condition whether one is wise, foolish, young or old. Impermanence is the way of all things. Therefore, one should first learn about death, and afterwards learn about things of the world.
